Berry Season

Summer is my favorite time of year for one reason: the berries. There are gooseberries, loudberries,
strawberries, blue berries, black currants, red currants, raspberries, and more! One of my favorite things to do is eat black current berries on my way to the seaside.

However, something is starting to bother me. Now everyone shops for food in places like Maxima and Rimi, and these corrporate chains ship in all of their fruits and vegetables from other counties. This means less and less people here are eating local food on a daily basis. How could anyone possibly want to eat an apple (produced out of season) from Italy, when he could gulp down a sweet, tangy gooseberry?

I heard about a Slow Food movement in Latvia, but do you know where I can find out more about this organization promoting local food?
