Estonia is once again in the international press, this time in The New Republic, the highly respected American magazine about politics and current events. Four-book author Tom Bissell paid a visit to Estonia in November to pen the story, “Rolling Estonia,” quickly establishing that he didn’t want to write, in his words, “the same naive piece everyone else writes.” How true that is: The New York Times has written the same piece about the Old Town almost every other year now, mostly remarking about how old the Old Town is and declaring the city a good place to party. Bissell, a self-described fan of Estonia, says he’ll be back to write more articles. And Estonia should welcome him, because any journalist interested in doing more than just scratching the surface can do nothing but good for the country. Read the entire article here:
