Hannibal, Lithuanian aristocrat
Hannibal the Cannibal that would be...
The story goes like this: In the winter of 1944-1945, when Lecter was twelve, a group of Lithuanian collaborators retreating from Russia shelled the lodge in which his family had hidden over the course of Operation Barbarossa and the subsequent German retreat from the Eastern Front, killing his parents, his governess, his tutor and the family retainers. Lecter, his sister, and other local children were rounded up by the deserters to be killed and used as food during the cold Baltic winter... Hannibal Rising is set for release February 9th.
The film also features Lithuanian actress Ingeborga Dapkunaite who plays The Cannibal’s mother. Dapkunaite, the only Lithuanian actress to make a mark in Hollywood, previously played Brad Pitt's wife in Seven Years in Tibet.
