Lithuania Torpedoes Baltic Partners

Or at least that’s how Estonia sees it.

Last week Lithuania and Poland concluded an agreement, according to which a quarter of the future nuclear power plant was promised unilaterally to a Polish energy company. Lithuanian Prime Minister Kirkilas also announced that the other project partners have agreed to the fact that Lithuania needs to get the greatest share in the plant.

Eesti Energia, however, said that they do not officially recognize the fourth partner in the project. The company also pointed out that in the project plan, Eesti Energia, Lietuvos Energija and Latvenergo agreed to equal shares and the changes would be made by group consensus. The CEO of Eesti Energia Sandor Liive had said earlier that Estonia might bow out of the project if Lithuania imposed unacceptable conditions.
