Ilves to parliament: Think for yourselves
Intelligent human beings or rubber stamp for political parties?
As the newly-elected members of the Estonian parliament convened for the opening session on Monday, President Toomas Hendrik Ilves gave a speech, urging parliament not to resign itself to being a rubber stamp for party coalitions. “Voters expect you to think for yourselves and vote according to your conscience,” Ilves said, emphasizing that parliament needs to supervise the policies of the government.
