Lithuanians to speak French
Lithuanians in the government chancellery, ministries, and other state institutions will learn the French language. Foreign Minister Antanas Valionis is set to sign a multilateral memorandum on a long-term French language program for state officials. 400 Lithuanians will be trained to negotiate, prepare documents, and speak French as one of the main working languages in the EU. When their rigorous training is finished, they will be able to order Le Big Mac with confidence. Unfortunately, the language training does not guarantee a large influx of French restaurants in Lithuania. Vive la pomme de terre! Quelle dommage.
