Ansip: Prepare for prostitution expansion

Will FinlandÂ’s law wreak Estonian havoc?

Finland’s plan to make buying sex a crime will bring about more prostitution in Estonia and provide a boost to Estonia’s crime world, said Estonia’s PM, Andrus Ansip. The prime minister said Estonia must “react adequately” and be ready for expansion of prostitution.
Currently, Estonian law finds the pimp guilty and not the prostitute. Ansip declined comment on whether Estonia should follow the Finnish example since the government has not discussed the issue of “criminalizing buying the service.” For an up-close look at prostitution in Estonia, read City Paper’s recent feature here: http://www.balticsworldwide.com/prostitution.htm
