Tourist count in Tallinn: Almost twice the population
But a good chunk of them are freeloaders.
According to the state-owned Enterprise Estonia Foundation, 1.9 million foreign tourists stayed overnight in Estonia in 2005, a growth of 9% over 2004.
The number of tourists from Germany, Great Britain and Russia grew most. The number of tourists from Sweden, Norway, Latvia, Lithuania and Spain grew slower than in 2004 but still considerably.
If you’re a hotelier, you will not be pleased to hear that 450,000 of the 1.9 million used free accommodations—staying with friends or relatives.
