Estonia says Byelorussian students can stay
Last week, the Estonian government agreed to cover tuition and accommodation costs of ten students expelled from Byelorussian universities. This will enable the students to continue their educations in Estonian universities.
“One possibility to help the Byelorussian society is to give young people who think in a democratic way...the possibility to continue their educational path in Estonia...,” said Estonia’s Urmas Paet. At an EU foreign ministers meeting, Estonia supported a proposal to form a special fund to support democracy and human rights in Byelorussia and other East European states.
