Victim organizations demand Estonia investigation
Call for abolition of grave peace
Estonian and Swedish victim organizations connected to the M/S Estonia tragedy have sent letters to ten governments demanding the abolition of the grave peace agreement over the shipwreck.
The governments of Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Great Britain and Northern Ireland were contacted last week and asked to “supplement, amend, abolish or suspend all practical and administrative measures that ban investigating the Estonia wreck and are obstacles for bringing new evidence from the ship,” said the Estonia Process Society.
The M/S Estonia sank in stormy seas on September 28, 1994, killing 852 people. 137 people were saved.
