Confidence in Estonian presidency at five-year low

The support for the institution of the President has fallen to a five-year low in Estonia while the confidence in the institution of the Prime Minister has increased to the highest level in past few years.

The presidential institution’s rating has fallen from 75 percent to 68 percent during the past year, the lowest since Arnold Rüütel was elected President in 2001.

Yet the confidence in the institution of Prime Minister rose from 47 percent in 2005 to the current level of 62 percent—the highest rating ever in the 11 years the poll has been conducted.

The institution that inspires the most confidence is, according to the poll, Estonia’s rescue services, followed by her border guards, defense forces and the Bank of Estonia. Perhaps no surprise to anyone, Estonian political parties rank the lowest with 22 percent.
