Estonian minister supports citizenship for Russian millionaire
Estonian population minister Paul-Eerik Rummo has requested Estonian citizenship for 32-year-old Russian millionaire Rustam Aksenenko. The basis: special services to the Estonian state.
Readers should know it is usual practice in many countries to offer citizenship in exchange for economic investment. Aksenenko, who has invested 150 million kroons (9.6 million euros) in Estonia through his transit company DBT, is the son of the former Russian railways minister. Minister Rummo referred to Aksenenko as one of the founders of the modern Estonian transit business. The government will decide soon the question of Mr. Aksenenkos’s citizenship.
