Table-mania hits the Baltics

This week, Estonia is “freest nation” in world

In what seems a giant orgy of foundations, the Heritage Foundation, The Wall Street Journal, the Fraser Institute, the Cato Institute, the Freedom House, Reporters Without Borders, and Freewebs.com have surveyed 159 countries, created the State of World Liberty Index, and named Estonia the most free.

The index takes into account individual freedom, economic freedom, taxation, and “other” factors. Lithuania ranked 16th and Latvia 20th.Other free countries are Ireland, Canada, Switzerland, Iceland, the Bahamas, Great Britain, the USA, Cyprus, and New Zealand. Countries judged to be the “least free” are North Korea, Libya, and Cuba.
