Lithuanians 18th in World Plowing Contest

Estonians and Latvians stay home, turn attention to Miss World pageant

At the 53rd annual World Plowing Contest in Ireland, Lithuanian Rimas Kleiva took18th place in traditional plowing among 26 participants. Fellow contryman Kazys Gencius took the 27th place in reversible plowing event. 28 competed in the reversible plowing event.

A Scot and an Englishman won the traditional and reversible events, respectively, in the contest held September 29-30 in Grangeford, Tullow, Carlow, Ireland. No Balts fared well at the event, though a Norwegian did well in the reversible event. Estonians and Latvians did not take part in the event, presumably turning their attention toward Miss pageants.

Fans may begin preparing now for the 54th World Plowing Contest to take place in Kaunas, Lithuania, in 2007.
